Toronto supports Rob Ford’s weight-loss efforts with fake bids to phony charities

Rob Ford has yet to drop a single pound, but his extremely public weight-loss campaign has already taken a turn for the hilarious. The campaign’s website, CutTheWaist.ca, attracted some rather suspicious pledges this morning, including a $1 pledge to the “Conservative Hat Trick Fund,” a $45,000 pledge to something called the “Canadians Need A Lot of Gravy Foundation,” and a penny for both “Ford For President of Usa [sic]” and the “Sasquatch Rehabilitation Program.” Naturally, our personal favourites are a pair of one-cent donations to the “Human Fund” (Seinfeld lovers, take note). The site has since been scrubbed of the most obvious pranks, but our friends at Torontoist and municipal blogger Matt Elliott immortalized a few of them. Anyway, both Rob and Doug plan to lose 50 pounds. On behalf of the Human Fund, we wish them the best of luck. Read the entire story [Torontoist] »
They still have yet to censor a 69-cent donation from someone named “Pedo” for the “Safe House for Kids” charity….slightly more subtle than Anal Beads For All.
The $2 donation from Wilfred B to the “Endin Diabeetus Fund” is still up. Pure gold – I laughed so hard I started crying.
Good to see donations to the Human Fund. Seinfeld references never get old.
The Human Fund. Money for people.
My donation to TBA was turned down :(
I tried to donate -$2 billion to the Re-elect Stephen Harper Fund, but was rejected!
Went to the pledge form- wanted to donate $50.00 to the Orthodox Christian church, saw that they want name, address and email. Don’t want Rob to have that information, so no go. May I suggest a ‘Sherman the Shark For Mayor Fund’? Sherman and Rob Ford have a physical resemblance.
