Rob Ford has yet to drop a single pound, but his extremely public weight-loss campaign has already taken a turn for the hilarious. The campaign’s website, CutTheWaist.ca, attracted some rather suspicious pledges this morning, including a $1 pledge to the “Conservative Hat Trick Fund,” a $45,000 pledge to something called theCanadians Need A Lot of Gravy Foundation,” and a penny for both “Ford For President of Usa [sic]” and the “Sasquatch Rehabilitation Program.” Naturally, our personal favourites are a pair of one-cent donations to the “Human Fund” (Seinfeld lovers, take note). The site has since been scrubbed of the most obvious pranks, but our friends at Torontoist and municipal blogger Matt Elliott immortalized a few of them.
