At this Gladstone auction, guests can bid on original artwork and accessories by over 50 Canadian creators
The Gladstone is hosting a silent auction next Tuesday, where winning bidders will be rewarded with creations by over 50 local artists and designers. The event, which holds the slightly awkward name-slash-hashtag #StufDsgnrsMake, is a follow-up to TO Design Offsite, a week-long festival in January that celebrates Canada’s art and design scene with innovative installations, workshops and exhibitions. The upcoming auction will give the local design-loving community the chance to actually take home work from some of the up-and-coming artists and designers featured in the festival. In the lead-up to the auction, passers-by are free to check out the Canadian-made products and art on display, whether or not they plan on making a purchase. Some of the items being sold include a Canadiano coffee maker carved from a single block of cherry wood, a gorgeous handcrafted patchwork quilt and more than a few conceptual light fixtures. Rounding out the mix are a few items from better-known designers, like these perfectly retro sunglasses from Philip Sparks.
