Wimbledon is upon us, and while we may not be tennis professionals (shocker), we’re pretty sure we can go toe to toe with the long-haired hipster players at Trinity Bellwoods Park. In the spirit of what we’re dubbing “tennis season,” we pieced together the best clay court outfit that money can buy (with a few odds and ends for good measure). And since tennis can be one of the sweatiest games of the season, we know better than to suggest anything other than a tried-and-true white T-shirt. But a day on the court shouldn’t be all whites—here’s a roundup of gear that could work on and off the court.
Get inside the mind of a tennis player (one who used to be married to Brooke Shields, no less). $13. <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/0307388409/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=torolife-20&linkCode=as2&camp=15121&creative=330641&creativeASIN=0307388409">Click here to buy »</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.ca/e/ir?t=torolife-20&l=as2&o=15&a=0307388409" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /><br />
Stella McCartney has done a good job with these versatile sneakers. They’re good for running, but they have the grip to make them suitable for the court. They’re such a close fit that you’ll feel like you’re wearing socks. $150.<br />

These kicks are going to feel great on the court (the mesh panels provide some fresh air) and look great off the court (just look at them). $179.<br />

We know this skirt would be beautiful anywhere, but in a leisurely game of tennis, it’s going to be a show-stopper. It’s fully lined, and half cotton, half nylon. Or, if you’re playing in your ratty old jersey skirt, this is the perfect piece to throw on for a post-game brunch. $676. <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-3229521-10569670?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ssense.com%2Fwomen%2Fproduct%2Fcarven%2Fmustard_lace_front_silk_skirt%2F52098%3Futm_source%3Dcj%26utm_medium%3Daffiliate%26utm_term%3D52098&cjsku=21319F117007">Click here to buy »</a>
Both comfortable and stylish, these terry sweat-shorts from T by Alexander Wang are the perfect choice for a day on the court (’cause, let’s face it, if you’re as good as you say you are, you’re going to sweat). $112 <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-3229521-10569670?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ssense.com%2Fmen%2Fproduct%2Ft_by_alexander_wang%2Fblack_siro_terry_sweatshorts%2F48536%3Futm_source%3Dcj%26utm_medium%3Daffiliate%26utm_term%3D48536&cjsku=21214M045002">Click here to buy »</a>
This is Roger Federer’s racquet of choice, because its light weight hand-feel gives the user complete control (the power is coming from the player, not the weight of the racquet). This is a consumer version of the same racquet Federer uses. $199. <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B006UWBVJG/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=torolife-20&linkCode=as2&camp=15121&creative=330641&creativeASIN=B006UWBVJG">Click here to buy »</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.ca/e/ir?t=torolife-20&l=as2&o=15&a=B006UWBVJG" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /><br />
The two of the tour’s top ladies (Venus and Serena Williams) use this racquet, and they’re doing pretty well for themselves (well, at least Serena is). Its volcanic basalt fibers give it a good hand-feel, and its mid-level weight makes it a breeze to hold and use. $159. <a href="http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B004IA30ZU/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=torolife-20&linkCode=as2&camp=15121&creative=330641&creativeASIN=B004IA30ZU">Click here to buy »</a><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.ca/e/ir?t=torolife-20&l=as2&o=15&a=B004IA30ZU" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /><br />
what?
the stella m shoes maybe , but the rest?
A $700 lace skirt for tennis? You guys! Some lulu shorts & sport halter and you’re good to go. Also MEC has good performance t’s for men. Or Ralph Lauren/Lacoste/Penguin if you want to go preppy. No offense but this list blows.
1. You cannot play tennis in running shoes
2. Private clubs in Toronto are “whites only”
3. What about merchant of tennis? – They actually carry the stella/addidas line
4. I forgot to mention that Federer’s racquet has a strung weight of 12.6oz which is currently the heaviest racquet on the tour
Way to go Toronto life!
Is Kevin Naulls trolling us or what? LOL! These are terribly selections. Wow. Clearly, he has never played a game of tennis in his life…
I remain baffled at how he got this gig and manages to keep it…
