$2,170,000

Address: 281 Poyntz Avenue

Neighbourhood: Lansing

Agent: Ronit Barzilay, Harvey Kalles Real Estate Ltd., Brokerage

The property: A renovated five-bedroom home with a brand-new master retreat.

The history: In 2014, the sellers put the house on the market with a $1.64 million asking price, later reduced to $1.59 million. They only showed the place to five people (one of which was their neighbour, who wasn’t looking to buy). Discouraged, they took the house off the market. In May, they noticed that sales at Yonge and Sheppard had heated up a bit. Fearing a dip in prices, they decided to try selling once again.

The fate: The sellers have six children and didn’t want to uproot the family before closing on their new home in Pickering, in June 2017. They sold the house to an investor who’s willing to rent it out to them until then.

The sale: The house sold in one week, for $382,000 over asking. There were four offers. The sellers accepted the highest one.
