The history

Toronto architects Henry Bauld Gordon and Grant Helliwell built the home in 1902. The most recent owners, who bought the house in 2014, refreshed the interior, knocking out several walls and lowering the basement. The house now has Miele appliances, heated marble floors, wallpapers imported from France and England, and giant custom doors.

Big selling point

For anyone who has ever wanted to live in a castle, the bedroom in the turret is pretty close:

Possible deal breaker

The house was originally listed for $5,875,000 in March. A month ago, the owners dropped the ask by $580,000 in an attempt to drum up interest. At this price point, buyers are scarce—but one usually turns up sooner or later.

By the numbers

• $5,295,000
• $15,045.97 in taxes (2016)
• 4,750 square feet, above grade
• 50-by-255-foot lot
• 7 bathrooms
• 7 bedrooms
• 2 parking spots
