House of the Week: $1.9 million for an Edwardian home with a wine cellar in the East Annex

Address: 153 Admiral Road
Neighbourhood: The Annex
Agent: Susan Wainstock, Sage Real Estate Limited
Price: $1,929,000

The Place: A renovated Edwardian in the East Annex that pays homage to its heritage with a selectively preserved interior.

Bragging Rights: The East Annex is chock full of local celebs and notable names. Margaret Atwood has a place on Admiral Road, and, last time we checked, Belinda Stronach, Cleophee Eaton, Galen Weston Jr., and Victoria Jackman were all nearby.

Big Selling Point: While some would say it’s the tangerine living room with the floating chair, others might point to the massive wine wall or the unique and funky kitchen. For our money, though, we’d say it’s the bright and airy third-floor playroom and office space. Cozy and welcoming, it seems like an ideal place to get some work done while keeping an eye on the kids.

Possible Deal Breaker: That gold-and-black main-floor bathroom is bound to be controversial. Fortunately, wallpaper is easily covered up.

By the Numbers:

• $1,929,000
• $10,491.05 (2013 taxes)
• 5 bedrooms
• 4 bathrooms
• 4 storeys (including the finished basement)
• 3 fireplaces
• 2 balconies
• 1 dressing room
• 1 wine cellar
