Condomonium: $1.8 million for a King West penthouse with an envy-inspiring terrace
ADDRESS: 75 Portland St., Unit 1101
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Waterfront Communities—The Island
AGENT: Craig Emond, RE/MAX Hallmark Realty
PRICE: $1,799,000
THE PLACE: A two-bedroom penthouse in the Seventy5 Portland building, which is the first Canadian project by über-designer Philippe Starck (and which we first looked at back in November).
BRAGGING RIGHTS: The wooden terrace has everything. And by “everything,” we mean a kitchen—complete with fridge, counters and gas lines—a hot tub, a television, an outdoor sound system to match the one inside, and heaters to keep things toasty come autumn.
BIG SELLING POINT: That terrace and the dramatic open-plan living area are ideal for entertaining. And if you want to head to bed while the stragglers party on, the master bedroom is tucked away in the western end of the condo, making it quiet and private.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: While nearby Victoria Memorial Park should protect most of the view from the windows and terrace, a new infill project currently going up will block some of the panorama.
BY THE NUMBERS:
• $1,799,000
• $1,181.49 in monthly maintenance fees
• 2,100 square feet
• 1,100-square-foot terrace
• 9-foot ceilings
• 3 bathrooms
• 2 bedrooms

nice…wasted terrace… come on! This is canada.. how many months can u go out there and entertain ? Add the terrace sq ft and not bad but maintenance is huge!
Looks really cold and sterile with all that white. Not appealing at all.
Really hate the kitchen counters/backsplash.
It isn’t about how long you can use the terrace, but how great it is when you can. The terrace and fireplace are the best part about this condo. The bathrooms are ugly and do not look like they use the space very well. I agree with A, the kitchen back-splash and counter-tops are hideous.
I believe I saw this condo in G&M a few weeks ago, it is owned by a former bachelor who used to ‘entertain’ quite often but recently got hitched and is having a kid. Certainly has looks of a rich bachelor pad. It has been on the market for a long time (>6 months) so one has to gather it is extremely overpriced especially considering a new building going up which will look down on you and partially block the view.
Proof that money can’t buy taste.
UGLY.
UGLY.
UGLY!
Love the terrace, hate the white flooring. You need a cleaning crew on staff to keep that floor presentable.
chalbe, you are so right about the floor. I daily curse the previous owners of my house who put a white tile floor in the kitchen. It’s impossible to keep clean for longer than about 30 seconds. shows every speck of anything that lands on it.
Glad I’m moving out of here next month – to a house without white floors!
Mcduck… would you pay over $1mil to use a terrace for 3 months ? GTFOH!! wasted space… give me more sq ft inside… this aint florida! and what am I facing?
It would be like living in the matrix
Im cold just looking at this place. too much marble and zero texture. patio is nice. but kind of a waste considering our avg temp…
not worth 1.7. its not even on the subway!!
WHOA did this bachelor own a tile company?!?! Solid surface overload..
LOL on the the other comments. Yep it looks sooooooo white. Give me a box of chocolate and a 4 year old……hehehe
Wow- how underwhelming. We’re well on our way to $2M here and that’s the kitchen? A pokey fridge like that? For a condo like this, the wires from the TV are all exposed in the bedroom and you can see all their clothes jammed in the closet through those awful closet doors. Really, are we to believe this is what you get for this astronomical amount of money? We need a big old reality check in this city!
1.8 million for a sterile box.
Hopefully those buying these 1M+ condos have a spare bedroom, or pullout couch. If the rumblings from Ottawa come to fruition they will probably see our version of Fannie Mae at their door asking for a few more points in their interest rate. I would suggest they contact Adam Vaughan asap about reservations at the Homeless Hilton.
