Condomonium: $1 million for a suite in a King West clock tower (round windows included)
ADDRESS: 700 King St. W., Unit 612
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Niagara
AGENTS: George, Frank and John Filntissis, Coldwell Banker Terrequity Realty
PRICE: $999,000
THE PLACE: A three-bedroom condo in the clock tower of a former King West office building. Converted into the Westside Lofts in 2001, the building is equipped with a gym, a sauna and a rooftop patio.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: In an ingenious move, the developer turned the faces of both clocks into windows. They’re perfect portholes for looking out over the city (one frames the CN Tower perfectly), and they add tons of visual interest to the living space.
BIG SELLING POINT: At 2,000 square feet, this condo is spacious—and it feels even larger, thanks to 11.5-foot ceilings left over from its past life as an office building.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: Living here, you won’t be able to credibly use the “lost track of time” excuse if you’re running late.
BY THE NUMBERS:
• $999,000
• 2000 square feet
• $1,147.32 in monthly maintenance fees
• 11.5-foot ceilings
• 8 x 15 storage locker
• 3 bedrooms
• 2 bathrooms
• 1 parking space

OOohhhh I’m LOVING IT!!! Amazing and nicely priced too. What a steal! Location, price, nicely laid out, maint fee OK for the size…. good stuff!
$500/sq.ft for basic builder finishes which by now are a tad dated. You are not even very high up and without any outdoor space. Its over-priced for my liking.
Where in Scarborough are you from, Tony?! tell me where you think you will get $500/sq ft/3 bedroom and who cares about outdoor space in toronto – remember WINTER and COOL over 80% of the year… Think Location, layout,convenience.. then again for your liking….sure..you are right! I like it..
Not from Scarborough Paul, nice try at taking a swipe at our fine neighbours in the east. I know exactly where this building is located and when it was completed…sorry to have to repeat, but it IS dated. Take a look around at all the condo developments downtown and see there things are going with respect to outdoor space, you would be hard pressed to think most Torontonians care about winter….and no, its not cool 80% of the year in T.O. where are you from?? The one thing this condo has going for it is that its a 3 bedroom. But frankly, its not that difficult to find a 3 bedroom condo in a location that’s ‘convenient’ (with far less streetcar noise), a good location (away from late night bars and pubs) and a good layout (with outdoor space to boot) AND in the $1mill range. You need to know the City in order to find it, something which you obviously don’t know too well.
Can you Queens quit the bickering?! This apartment is stunning, and anyone who doesn’t see the CHARM or character. and regards it as an ‘outdated’ building, is just silly. Move to Auora at yonge and gerarrd. Condos there start at $900,000 for a Jr 1Bedroom on the 7th floor? I’m sure it will be quite too… haha
Sure it’s nice, but I also dislike the lack of outdoor space.
The real killer, though, is $1147 in maintenance fees every month! Holy crap! I guess if you can drop a million on a place you can afford it, but still…
the maintenance fees made me puke a little.
beautiful space (ever so slightly dated) but my GOD, does anyone know how loud it is to live above the streetcars at that level?? I DO! Luckily its not the corner of King and Spadina, but I am sure its almost as noisy.
Great looking space and I really like the clock windows. The kitchen could be freshened up with new granite and back splash, but overall pretty nice. The price seems ok but the monthly fee seems fairly high considering there doesn’t appear to be a doorman, and has only a few low-maintenance shared elements. Hopefully it includes heat, hydro, cable etc.
There is a 24 hour concierge, in house property manager and staff. The kitchen and bathroom counters are made of granite and marble respectively and the kitchen has a tiled back splash. A green roof is under way and already has bar-b-que facilities. The finished roof will have eating facilities, lounging, gardening, and track.
