Condomonium: $3.2 million for a Queen Street East penthouse loft with its very own (very private) courtyard
ADDRESS: 43 Britain Street, Unit 200
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Moss Park
AGENT: Carl Langschmidt, Royal LePage
PRICE: $3,200,000
THE PLACE: The massive two-story penthouse in the Stonecutters Lofts, a century-old warehouse whose conversion into five luxury living spaces netted the Ontario Association of Architects design award in 2011.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: Potential buyers touring the suite have joked that its luxury and drama would be a good fit for superhero playboy Bruce Wayne. While there’s no hidden entry to a subterranean Batcave, the kitchen does have an unassuming cupboard door that is actually an entryway to extra pantry space and a wine fridge. To the wine cave!
BIG SELLING POINT: Condo terraces (and their views of other condo terraces) can’t compete with this loft’s sizeable central courtyard. It fills all the rooms with light and gives the sprawling space a main—and arresting—focal point.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: Though the area’s been slowly changing with the arrival of new developments, Moss Park ain’t Yorkville. Don’t expect a scrubbed and polished neighbourhood outside the front door.
BY THE NUMBERS:
• $3,200,000
• 4,400-square feet interior space
• 3,000-square feet exterior space
• $1,085 in monthly maintenance fees
• 100 years of history
• 5 bedrooms
• 4 bathrooms
• 3-car private garage
• 2 levels
• 1 secret pantry

OMG! I LOVE IT!! Amazing, huge and tastefully laid out.. indeed.. Thank you TL… Oh! Amazing how when you find the nice properties you dont take lots of pics, yet when you have lousy properties, you kill us with way too many pictures and awful comments. Get a grip!
You’d need Batman around just to help you accross the street in that area.
Nice space, to bad it ain’t Queen Street West.
If you stub your toe out on the street make sure it’s not a needle. I am sure the area will grown into this development but it’s not currently an area I’d move my family into.
Stunning, love the courtyard and just overall layout of the place. I can just imagine throwing a huge party here!! Wish there were more photos. Now if only I had several million dollars to throw into a condo!
Beautiful condo but the area it is in is not great. In fact it is pre-gentrification.
OMG a time capsule from 1992!
Horrible small kitchen looks like a closet.
This would be like living at the office…
Its ok. The only thing that’s nice about this place is the courtyard and the kitchen. Everything else is kind of of a mish mash of pieces thrown together to stage the unit. Definitely not worth $3.2MM…
Great space & the courtyard is amazing. But if you just count the interior space it’s about 730 / ft2…way overpriced, especially for the area. The maintenance fee seems reasonable though.
Nice property, but considering LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION…not a 3million or even 2 million dollar property….unless the odor of pot is pleasurable to the senses and you get a thrill from the constant criminal activities and crackheads, urination and prostitutes against your exterior walls…
woo……hoo
WOAH. Love the place but what are they thinking, putting it on Queen East?? Not that I have anything against that area but this condo is SO not Leslieville. I don’t care what anyone says, Leslieville is not quite there yet, not even sure it will be anytime “soon” (ie, next 5 years at least)!
IT SOLD FOR $2.85 Million
