Condomonium: $1.3 million for a fully upgraded suite across the street from the Royal Ontario Museum
ADDRESS: 175 Cumberland Street, Unit 1110
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Yorkville
AGENT: Irena Elina, Royal LePage
PRICE: $1,275,000
THE PLACE: A two-bedroom suite in the Renaissance Plaza. One of the earlier Yorkville condos, the building was built in the early 1980s, but the owner recently overhauled this unit to bring it into a more modern (and glassy) era.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: When your rooftop terrace overlooks the Royal Ontario Museum and the new Four Seasons Tower and your front door is a block from Tiffany’s, it’s hard not to feel at the centre of all things cultured and luxurious.
BIG SELLING POINT: The main living space is spacious and well planned. We imagine evenings flowing logically from the bar in the kitchen to the dining area (with a conveniently long buffet), and then over to the pristine white living room. Plus, this main area includes a massive desk so work-from-home types can stay within grasping distance of the coffee maker.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: Some of the extras could be considered drawbacks—not everyone wants a television in the bathroom or a toilet that needs a remote control.
BY THE NUMBERS:
• $1,275,000
• $400,000 in upgrades
• 1,692 square feet
• $1,506.28 in monthly maintenance fees
• 11 floors up
• 2 bedrooms
• 2 bathrooms

actually quite reasonable for size & location.. indeed… decor is nice but this read splash or wahtevver ruins it..quite a deal in these older buildings.. look at the size… nice….
I hope the soundproofing is incredible – I used to live near here and the ambulances (Bay and University are both ‘corridors’ for emergency vehicles) drove me insane, night and day (sometimes dozens, not talking one or two). Couldn’t pay me to live here again, even with amenities.
Nice mod place for the right folks though.
Nice place ..but once again totally overpriced..but that’s the way Toronto is going ..maintenance fees are outrageous for buying an apartment !
How’s the master sink practical? Water splashing everywhere!
Awful… design straight from the 80’s:-) Good luck getting over $800k for it
Miami Vice called. They want their condo back.
Can anyone other than the ultra-rich afford that kind of condo fee? Condo fees always make me laugh. Even in plain ol’ vanilla buildings, condo fees are getting insane. Buy a house, people!
The above pros and cons are on the mark. It’s an amazing but potentially noisy location. As for the interior design, well, it seems they might be stretching a bit too hard in trying to be sleek and cool. A tad 80s, perhaps, but still striking in a good way.
Compared to the stuff that’s being built today, I think this condo is actually a decent deal. You get a great amount of living space for a decent price, assuming you could shave off about 400K from the asking price.
Yeah, and those condo fees are indeed crazy. Owners of condos like this one have to realize they will need to give deep discounts to potential buyers who are willing to absorb condo fees north of 1.5K per month.
I’d buy it for 900K, but not a cent more.
Guess the cost of the renovation didn’t leave much left over to decorate with. IKEA artwork – really?
Reminds me of the old Noodles on Bay street.
