No. 16: Highbush (Pickering)

Average sale price: $909,518

Highbush, located just across the Rouge River, offers many perks of midtown Toronto life. The homes, mostly built in the 1980s and ’90s, have great bones, though design fiends might want to update the older kitchens and bathrooms. The living is serene—the area is socked in by Rouge National Park to the west and tracts of horse-grazing farmland to the north—and yet the trip to Toronto is commuter-friendly: it’s a 10-minute drive to Pickering’s revitalized downtown, where the GO station has over 3,600 parking spots for commuters, and the 401 is easily accessible. Frenchman’s Bay West Park (pictured above), a little to the south, has a natural sand beach, with windy waters perfect for surfing and kiteboarding.
