No. 12: O’Neill (Oshawa)

Average sale price: $473,588

Driving through this pocket of Oshawa, you might blink and think you’re in Rosedale. The stately, century-old homes on Connaught and Masson streets have a Moore Park air about them—and they sell for a fraction of what Moore Park houses fetch. The rest of the neighbourhood is a grid of strollable streets with leafy tree canopies and pretty, well-kept homes. Streets on the west side dead-end at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, a green expanse where locals can enjoy the views or buy memberships, and the Michael Starr Trail is a multi-use path that runs along a former CN rail line. Just south of the neighbourhood is Oshawa’s main drag, a collection of cute shops and old-school restaurants. The Rainbow on Simcoe Street serves peameal bacon as thick as a steak, and Teddy’s deli just a few blocks west has a killer hot turkey sandwich.
