Patachou is closing its pair of Toronto patisseries

For 35 years, Toronto patisserie and café Patachou has been sustaining Rosedalers (and, more recently, St. Clair West residents) with simple, comforting French food. Now the family-run business is closing. Talking to The Grid, owner Elizabeth Sidi explained that it was time to take a break from the grueling bakers’ hours. “It’s been a long run and we were lucky to enjoy it very much,” she said. “But now, to get up at 4 a.m., is too much.” Fans of the bakery-café have two months to get their fill of French onion soup and flaky almond croissants: both locations close on May 3rd, 2014.

Someone from the crew who understands Patachou… please talk to a bank and buy these businesses.

Im gonna miss everything from Patachou….their food, coffee, friends Ive made there. Its my second home and my very first job when I landed here in Canada in March 1987. Im so glad that they gave me a chance to came back and work for them again in June of 2010 . I might say its been a great ride..there’s ups and downs but overall its been good and fun working there. I will always be thankful and grateful to the owners..Robert and Elisabeth Sidi, her Mom Nadine and her daughter Cammille and our good chef Christian. They are all good and hardworking people and Patachou will always be a part of my life and all the staff there. I wish everyone good life, happiness and good luck.

The Best Coffee; love the Soups. I would often stop for a coffee and take out between appointments. I will miss that.
