The Place: A three-storey Spanish-Mexican restaurant and event space that gives 10 percent of every bill to children’s charities like the Terry Fox Foundation and Right to Play. The sleek space (formerly home to Hanif Harji’s Kultura) has been given a festive makeover with chunky black chandeliers, an Aztec-style mural and leather banquettes draped with colourful woven blankets.

The Food: A diverse menu of Mexican tacos and tostadas and traditional Spanish tapas, like patatas bravas with olive mayo and white beans with chorizo. Mains include chicken mole and seafood paella.

The Drinks: Spanish wines and tequila cocktails. Pitchers of horchata are spiced with cinnamon and sweetened with dulce de leche.

The Numbers:
• 3 storeys
• 10 per cent of every bill donated to children’s charities
• 172 years since the building was constructed (in 1841)
