Let’s tryst again: Mildred’s Temple Kitchen encouraging sex in its washrooms
Hoping to spice things up for Valentine’s Day, or perhaps to attract a different breed of customer (the Larry Craig–George Michael set), Mildred’s Temple Kitchen is encouraging customers to have sex in its four unisex bathrooms. According to the Toronto Star, Mildred’s has long encouraged loo liaisons (its former iteration, Mildred Pierce, had copies of the Kama Sutra lying about), but now the Liberty Village restaurant is being more explicit. “Have you given any thought to moving beyond the bedroom?” asks its Web site. “Check out Mildred’s Sexy Bathrooms throughout the weekend of Big Love. You get the picture.”
Although the Star points out some practical concerns (what about condoms? fluids? mess?), chef-co-owner Donna Dooher isn’t fazed. “We’ve always had little trysts in our bathrooms,” she says and points out that she’s hired a maid for the Valentine’s Day cleanup and is encouraging customers to bring their own condoms. The restaurant is also supplying furry handcuffs as part of a $55 “love hamper”—a decorative birdcage that also contains cookies, pecan squares and a cookbook.

I’ve been to Mildred’s a number of times; it’s a very cool space, good service and good food.
I guess I’ll be considered a prude but I think encouraging sex in the unisex washrooms is pretty sleazy.
I was there once when the washroom smelled of a recent sexual encounter; it was a real turn off on the place.
well I think this is uber funny! Can’t you people see this is a joke!!! AND you’ve taken the bait! I work in a restaurant and I can tell you Temple Kitchen is not the only restaurant to have hanky panky in the loos. Lighten up Toronto and learn to have a little chuckle.
i think the toronto star article is misleading. Its not like they said “come to our restaurant just to fuck in our bathrooms” they mentioned it for valentines day kind of as a joke and now people are taking it too far. ive seen people having sex in that washroom before, im sure it happens all the time, but now people arent going to be discreet about it and thats kind of gross. its not a bath house.
I really don’t see what the big deal here is. Everyone likes food, and sex. It’s Valentine’s Day and I think the fact that MTK is promoting spontaneous sexuality is great! I’ve been to this restaurant many times, and despite what previous entries may have indicated the food is top notch as well as the service. I really don’t think people are getting the main point; restaurant’s probably see this all the time, and Mildred’s Temple Kitchen is just making the obvious known. They have a sense of humour if anything, and I think others should start to take on their mentality.
Food is FAR easier to acquire than SEX with another person.
So LIGHTEN up every 1!
The hideous decor at Mildred’s has all the ambiance of a hospital cafeteria (plastic chairs, cardboard stools and concrete floors?), so perhaps the bathrooms are the only aspect worth discussing. Maybe they should serve romantic, intimate dinners in the bathrooms and encourage people to screw in the cafeteria/warehouse…
I agree with Mark; it’s not like we all frown upon these things. I would actually venture to guess that this restaurant is going to be packed with people just waiting for that story to tell…

I just cancelled my winterlicious reservation for this Sunday, because the article in the Star grossed me out. If they wanted to get more people into the restaurant for V-Day,they should’ve promoted their menu.
Linking the idea of public washroom sex with food, just makes the idea of food…yucky.
Oh that’s lovely. And while the washrooms are tied up with trysting couples, where are folks supposed to answer the calls of nature? Some regard this as a joke, but are too stupid to understand that there are always people that will exploit the situation to a whole new level of disgusting behavior. I prefer a clean sanitary bathroom. Whoever decided that unisex is OK needs to be taken out and shot. So when we are talking unisex bathrooms and sex in them, well that is to put it kindly, sophomoric.

I have never even heard of this place but it doesnt matter where it is.. public sex is fun people and those of you who are having a melt down or a moment of nuesea over the thought are either over 40 and married or Mormon. Sex is a natural healthy thing and has more purpose than pro-creation..every one has a little Freaky Deaky in them and some little fantasy and I promise you the world will not end and you will not go to Hell in fact if you dont have a smile plastered on your face the next day..then you did it wrong go back and DO IT AGAIN!!

So that’s why the STD rate in Canada is at its highest. People are having icky, unprotected sex in public bathrooms. Gross, even more a reason not to use public washrooms, there’s all those narsty STDs floating around on the seat, the walls, the floor, the ceiling, yack, barf.
