Jonathan Gushue, the culinary savant who turned Langdon Hall into one of Toronto’s most lauded formal dining destinations, is ending his eight-year run at the restaurant. Gushue made headlines last January when he mysteriously vanished outside the Park Hyatt Hotel, prompting a ten-day manhunt that ended when he was finally located by police somewhere outside the province. Gushue, who took a three-month personal hiatus before returning to his high-profile gig in April, will be replaced by former Auberge du Pommier chef Jason Bangerter, who currently runs the kitchens at Luma and O&B Canteen at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Also leaving the hotel is longtime general manager Jill McGoey, who will be replaced by former Fairmont Royal York food and beverage director Christophe Le Chatton. [James Chatto]
