Introducing: It’s All GRK

Name: It’s All GRK
Contact Info: 756 Queen St. W., 416-703-7888, itsallgrk.com, @ItsallGrk
Neighbourhood: Trinity Bellwoods
Owners: Matty Tsoumaris and Nick Freda, both partners in King West restaurant Valdez, and Nathan Godin
Chef: Greg Welch, a former chef at Marben

The Food: Simple Greek gyros, souvlaki and salads. Three vertical spits are loaded daily with local pork, chicken and beef, each available four ways: wrapped in pita with tzatziki and French fries (gyro); served open-face (piata); alongside rice and potatoes (dinner); or over greens (salad). French fries come topped with feta, oregano and Kalamata olive oil imported from Greece.

The Place: A streamlined space designed by famed Toronto resto-revamper Ian Rydberg, the designer behind trendy spots like La Carnita, Home of the Brave and Valdez. It’s All GRK sticks to Hellenic blue and whites but updates the look with high-top tables, a distressed wooden bar and Rydberg’s signature exposed lighting (in this case, dangling Edison bulbs).

The Drinks: The place isn’t licensed, but look for Greek soft drinks, including a popular peach-flavoured soda.

The Numbers:
• 1500 pitas sold per week
• 580 kilos of meat sliced per week
• 60 litres of olive oil drizzled per week
• 7.7 kilometres from Greektown
