why not help restaurants that need help , with exposure as opposed to these ones that are already established?
Gina,
Ad money

I take offence to this, my restaurant has been favourably reviewed by Toronto Life and mentioned as a hot place previously and I have not spent one dollar in advertising. That is god’s truth. Maybe they have favoured restaurants due to this,I don’t know, but do you honestly believe that every restaurant that has made the pages of Toronto Life are making it only because of advertising and never based on their own merit? Terrible to make an assumption like that when the reason why many restaurants are hot is because they are good…and they are good because they work their asses off. If you look at many of the places featured they are small businesses without access to advertising dollar. We were lucky enough to be discovered by reviewers because we certaintly didn’t have money for advertising. News flash…there is not much money in this business…like 6% profit on average, many owners are not able to draw salaries for years! Even the “hot” spots. There is nothing more frustrating then ignorance.
