Café Boulud opens at the new Four Seasons
Although it hasn’t received quite the same fevered attention that accompanied the arrival of the Momofuku complex, Daniel Boulud’s new Café Boulud, the New York chef’s 14th restaurant, is arguably just as big a get for the Toronto food scene (cue the usual hand-wringing about the city’s perpetual need for affirmation from outside). The 150-seat “casual fine dining” restaurant opens today at the brand-new Four Seasons Hotel in Yorkville, along with the 63-seat dbar, a bar and lounge. The Toronto Star reports the restaurant aspires to be a go-to local haunt, not a temple to haute cuisine (this is not Truffles 2.0), and that diners should not expect white linens on the tables. It also reports that Boulud is in town for the opening, and arrived with his usual perfectly coiffed hair.
