Introducing: Kitten and the Bear, a charming new tea room and confiturier in Parkdale
The Place: A dainty, 1940s-style tea room with two tiny tables (fashioned out of antique bird bath stands), a brass chandelier and shelves displaying quaintly packaged coffees, teas and handmade preserves. The store’s jams and jellies are also sold at the Junction and Leslieville flea markets, as well as nearby restaurant Geraldine.
The Food: Buttermilk scones with clotted cream and handmade preserves in flavours like strawberry-gooseberry-elderflower and masala chai tea with blueberry and white peach. A sampler platter comes with three jams, two scones and a pad of butter.
The Drink: Pour-over coffees, pots of steeped tea and iced teas sweetened with jam.
• 50–100 different types of jam per year
