TIFF Red Carpet: Devil's Knot

We’re crowning Atom Egoyan the TIFF 2013 Homecoming King—and geez, what a pack he travels with. The Toronto-based director joined his all-star cast at the Elgin Theatre on Sunday to open Devil’s Knot, a true story about the West Memphis Three, a trio of teenagers who served almost two decades in prison after being wrongfully convicted of murder. Fielding questions about criminal justice, Egoyan’s vision and the pleasures of working with such a stellar ensemble cast were a dapper Colin Firth, who was taller than expected; the impossibly cute (if occasionally disorderly) Reese Witherspoon, decked out in a Jason Wu print dress; sometime vampire Stephen Moyer from television’s True Blood; and pint-sized actress Mireille Enos of The Killing, who traded her bulky Seattle sweaters for a scarlet Catherine Malandrino cocktail dress and gold Jimmy Choos. One particularly noteworthy attendee: Jason Baldwin, one of the West Memphis Three, who was released from prison in 2011 after serving over 18 years.
