TIFF PARTY: Spring Breakers

Spring Breakers may not really be about spring break, but the after-party sure was. Stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine feted the film’s Canadian premiere on Friday night with a spring break–themed bash at Brassaii on King West (complete with a hot tub full of bikini babes and beach balls on the patio). After tucking into a meal of steak and corn, Gomez caught up with David Blaine and entertained a crowd of male admirers (Justin Bieber, watch your back). Later, she joined Hudgens, who was by the candy bar clinging to her boyfriend, Austin Butler, and sucking a cherry Blow Pop. Meanwhile, Eli Roth hung out with the film’s director, Harmony Korine, Michael Pitt mingled on the patio sporting a candy necklace and Natasha Lyonne tottered around looking relaxed and much less messy than we’ve seen her.

Late in the night, one guest toppled into the hot tub fully clothed and decided she may as well stay there, pulling a friend—a producer type, stripped down to his briefs—in with her. But the biggest partiers of the night were identical twins Sidney and Thurman Sewell, a.k.a. the controversial ATL twins, who play James Franco’s drug-dealing sidekicks in the movie (Franco, sadly, was a no-show, but his name came up in many conversations, alongside words like “genius” and “Oscar”). The brothers commanded attention all evening in pimp-wear that included gold grills Ryan Lochte would surely trade his medals for. By 1 a.m. the duo had carved out their own private party in the back of the bar with a posse of fawning young women who grinded to Britney Spears, struck seductive poses for cellphone pics, draped themselves on the twins like even more jewellery and occasionally needed help staying upright. Well, the theme was spring break.
