TIFF Red Carpet: Zac Efron sparkles at the Parkland premiere
Tween dream Zac Efron’s sparkle shone even brighter than usual at last night’s gala presentation of JFK assassination drama Parkland—especially next to the rumpled suits and surly mugs on his male co-stars, who appeared to have stumbled onto the red carpet en route to a nearby insurance sales convention. Sideways and 12 Years a Slave actor Paul Giamatti glowered dourly at the press gallery, but the worst offender was Tom Hanks progeny Colin Hanks, who should’ve spent less time making shirtless vines and more time practicing how not to pose like a robotic automaton. Black-clad Silver Linings Playbook star Jacki Weaver fared better, as did female co-stars Bitsie Tulloch in a sky-blue cocktail dress and Kat Steffans in a strapless belted gown. Still, Efron, who reportedly went super-method for his role as a (smoldering) surgical resident in the film, was clearly the belle of the ball.
