Marcus Gee provides another reason for the city to feel not-so-world-class

Rob Ford is fond of saying that Toronto has a spending problem, not a revenue problem. Today, Marcus Gee argues that Toronto has both. We can hardly accuse Gee of being a tax-and-spend left-winger or a shill for Ford, so we’ll consider his middle-of-the-road advice sincere. But the most depressing part of his column comes when Gee mentions the cities that are using various taxes to remedy their own revenue problems: New York, Chicago and Berlin, to name a few.
