Rob Ford will privatize the east end’s garbage collection—as soon as he’s re-elected
On his Newstalk 1010 show this week, Rob Ford signalled that he intends to fulfill his campaign pledge to outsource garbage collection across the city—but only if he is elected for another term. Ford gave himself kudos for contracting out garbage pick-up between Yonge Street and the Humber River last fall, but said privatizing the service for areas east of Yonge will be “part of the next part of my platform.” With more than two years to go before the 2014 election, Ford’s campaign platform is already remarkably well-defined—and, given his promises to revive the subway debate, and now to privatize garbage pick-up, it sounds like his run in 2014 will be a carbon copy of his first campaign (though hopefully minus the fake Twitter account). Ford is a massive fail as a mayor. If the people of Toronto are so silly as to re-elect this lumbering sack of attention deficit disorder, then we deserve him.
Hope not!
I guess he’s just given up running the City and is in full campaign mode now, less than halfway into his term? And he believes this warrants a second term? Be proud of what you wrought, Ford Nation. I agree with the earlier poster – if we’re truly dumb enough to re-elect them, then we clearly deserve him and whatever havoc he’ll ultimately wreak on our city.
I will not vote him any more. I was expecting the city land transfer tax will be removed but nothing happen. Lier.
I think Ford is more than a tad over-confident as more people everyday are finding out what a self absorbed idiot he really is and has no business being a mayor. We don’t need another Lastman wannabe!
They should all be voted out next term and all new people replacing them, but unfortunately there never seems to be any decent candidates worth voting for in Toronto elections , seems to be the same old crappy people being continually recycled over and over.
Maybe the people of Toronto will wake up and take a chance on new faces next election but I am not going to hold my breath to be sure, and more than likely the same gang will be re-elected next term.
