—Mayor Rob Ford, on today’s damning disclosures about his private life. The mayor’s morning started off poorly when reporters got hold of a police document cataloguing dozens of mysterious meetings between Ford and alleged drug dealer Sandro Lisi. Things got much, much worse when Police Chief Bill Blair confirmed that his investigators had found the infamous crack video. By mid-afternoon, Ford decided he’d better face the mob of reporters outside his office. “I think everybody has seen the allegations against me today,” he said. “I wish I could come out and defend myself. Unfortunately I can’t, ’cause it’s before the court and that’s all I can say right now.” His next move? “I’m going to go back and return my phone calls.” We imagine he has quite a few messages waiting. “I wish I could come out and defend myself.” There is no reason on earth that an innocent person cannot stand before the public and say loud and clear “I didn’t do it!” There is no reason not to, “before the courts” is irrelevant. He only “wishes” he could defend himself because he cannot. Clearly he has no defence. He has never once denied the allegations. Not once.
I’m putting money down now that the video does show the mayor smoking a substance, but I doubt its crack, probably another less explicit drug.
