“Political panellist” Ben Mulroney to Idol-ize mayoral debates
Starting tomorrow, Torontonians will get to witness a more civic side of Ben Mulroney. The pompadoured ex-Idol host is serving as “political panellist” for a series of live mayoral debates put on by CP24. Because having Rob Ford square off against Joe Pants isn’t absurd enough, Blazer Ben will be on hand to lend whatever political expertise one gleans from living at 24 Sussex as a teenager.
It is yet unclear what level of punditry should be expected. On eTalk, Mulroney Jr. provides in-depth analysis of such hot topics as Justin Bieber’s haircut and Avril Lavigne’s latest horking episode, which, come to think of it, is probably pretty valuable experience given the current crop of mayoral candidates. Sarah Thompson’s rags-to-riches story has Hilary Swank written all over it, Joe Pantalone’s quest to kill fun on Ossington reads like the screenplay for Footloose 2, and Rob Ford makes Mel Gibson look like Barack Obama. But hey, at least Rocco Rossi will be relieved to have a man on hand who looks even more plastic than he does.
