Olivia Chow’s radio ad imagines the Ford administration as a monster-truck rally
At the risk of mixing her metaphors (she has previously referred to Rob Ford’s city hall as “the circus tent”), Olivia Chow has turned to hillbilly sports as a mode of expressing her disdain for the mayor’s many scandals. A new radio spot for her campaign is a note-perfect imitation of a certain style of early-nineties monster-truck promotion, only this time it’s Ford’s impending return from rehab that has the announcer all excited. Potential Chow voters probably don’t need to be reminded that Ford is a mess, but she has to spend all those campaign donations somehow, right? Click the “play” button, above, to listen.
How is “the circus tent” a mixed metaphor?
Anyway:
Saying “I can beat Rob Ford” sounds too much like whistling past the graveyard, and I think he also will be only too encouraged by that. Why not just ignore him?
Would anyone in their right mind hire Olivia Chow to manage so much as a hotdog cart?
The woman has spent a life-time taking from the taxpayer (I believe she is currently pocketing two pensions) and living off other people’s money without any noticeable skills or abilities outside of getting elected in a far left-wing riding. I would take a drunken Rob Ford over a sober Olivia Chow — while my liquor cabinet may have been pried open by Rob at least I know my wallet would be safer with him than Chow. As Doug does not drink he is an easy choice over her and a credible one against Tory if you believe Tory lacks the stones to stand up to the union parasite and special interest groups.
p.s.– Someone please tell Olivia that all white people do not look alike and that she is running against Doug and not Rob.
