Michael Ford, the 20-year-old nephew of Rob and Doug Ford (he’s their sister Kathy’s son) is officially running for city council in Ward 2, a seat occupied by one or another of his uncles for the past 14 years. The expectation, for most serious council contenders, is that they’ll speak to the media to promote and defend their candidacies, but apparently that won’t be the case for this special little guy. Speaking to reporters earlier today, Doug, who isn’t running for reelection in Ward 2, said that he’ll be discouraging Michael from speaking to the media during the campaign, because journalists are too biased. Presumably, the idea is that Mikey’s last name will be enough to bolster him at the polls.

He wants the support of his community and their trust but won’t be speaking to them? On what basis does he think people will base their support… are the Fords actually stating that having the ‘Ford’ surname is all it takes… are they really that arrogant? That blatantly egotistical….??? Surely the people in that ward will not be stupid enough to vote for this kid without learning the kid’s capabilities and strengths or weaknesses…. is our political system that much of a joke….. oh wait, it’s the Fords… yeah, they’ve made the system that stupid.

If he wont do interviews like uncle Robbie doesn’t do interviews, I will only assume Mickey is a crack head alcoholic as well.
I think this “no talking to the media” attitude sums up exactly how the Fords feel about their Ward 2 constituents. They think so little of the residents of “their” Ward that they figure all they need to do is trot out ANYONE with the last name “Ford”, even someone like Mikey, who went so far as to legally change his name to Ford in February of this year (presumably because he knew we was going to run, and also knew that his only shot would be if his last name was Ford, because he clearly has nothing else to offer) and the voters, aka “sheep” of Ward 2 will simply fall in line and help continue the Ford dynasty in that Ward.
Does anyone seriously think that “Mikey” is running of his own accord, or that he will bring anything of value to Council? Of course not. He’s running as a seat warmer for the family, so Doug (or Rob when he loses the mayor’s race) can continue to act like a member of council without any of the scrutiny, work or accountability that comes with actually holding the job. Of course there’s nothing wrong with him running per se (we do live in a democracy after all), but the sheer fact of his running, which clearly is on nothing more than his last name, is an insult to every single person living in that Ward.
Please Ward 2 voters, do us all a favour and show this “family” just how wrong they are about you, and put an end to the Ford idiocracy by helping turf all their dumb a**es out of office.
Once again Uncle Doug is involved as the spokesperson.
