Early reports from the Ford budget: TTC fares going up by 10 cents in 21 days
At his Monday-morning press conference announcing the new city budget, Rob Ford is rolling out some of the details of a leaner, gravy-free Toronto. We’ll post a broader look at his Fordship’s desires in due course, but we couldn’t help but report that the headline so far is that TTC fares are going up by 10 cents as of February 1. If this all goes through, adult cash fares will stay the same, but a token will go from $2.50 to $2.60, and weekly passes will jump from $36 to $37.25. Despite the high-profile announcement, both Ford and TTC chief Karen Stintz are saying they’ll do everything they can to avoid the fare increase. This leaves us confused, and we’re pretty sure we’re not the only ones. Do we start hoarding TTC tokens now, or not?
THIS is what you voted for Toronto! You would think the dumbass ford would increase property taxes and leave the poor people alone ? Toronto’s property taxes is the lowest for canada’s biggest city. Increase my taxes and leave the poor people alone. And your stupid press conference, are we suppose to feel your pain ? ” I really did not want to do this, I dont like this ” and Karen stinzt saying the same ? Are you both the leader we elected ? You dont have to do it…shave the increase from the Police budget! Crime is down 30% in GTA, you dont need 2 cops in a car after 5pm and their 3% increase is all salary increase ? Does this include the over $26Mil reported they make from paid duty standing at construction sites and doing nothing?
Get real TO and wake up to the ‘leaders’ you elected.
