Following a poorly planned attempt at buyouts, city decides to just lay off workers instead
City manager Joe Pennachetti confirmed the city will be laying workers off. The layoffs, of course, are part of mayor Rob Ford’s attempt to reduce wasteful spending shrink government. This administration had no intention of buying out all who applied , they ofcourse had to approve some to make it look good but it was always the plan to lay off people.
Mr. Pennachetti’s salary is like winning a lottery each year so maybe he could kick back ten grand to the city as an example of this administrations serious attempt to actually save taxpayers money.
I suppose it is easier to kick the working stiffs to the curb and replace them with contractors and low wage mules.
Well I submit it could just as easily be done with many city mangement positions giving them a contract and reviewing thier performance every 2 years and not renewing thier contract if they are not producing. Keeping inmind that they make a hell of alot more than the average joe who does the actual work to keep the city operating.
This ofcourse will never happen but it would be the right way to go.
I see that the police paid duty gravy train has not been derailed yet , what a joke this administration is.
