In this edition of The Weekender, rock legends KISS perform at the Molson Amphitheatre, the Lightbox hosts the Toronto Animation Arts Festival and three more things to do in Toronto this weekend.

SPORTS Canadian Open The nation’s most prestigious golf tournament returns to Oakville for a weekend of PGA competition. Notable golfers include Dustin Johnson, who’s currently dating Paulina Gretzky, fan fave Bubba Watson and, of course, local boy Mike Weir. Winning share of the purse is just over $1 million. July 25-28. $77. Glen Abbey Golf Club, 1333 Dorval Dr., 1-800-571-6736, rbccanadianopen.com

MUSIC KISS The band famous for painted faces, flamboyant stage costumes and a lot of tongue still wants to rock all night (though partying everyday might not happen so much anymore). The American rockers bring their Monster World Tour to Toronto on Friday. If Gene Simmons can still head-bang at age 63, so you can you. July 26. $34-$209. Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, 909 Lake Shore Blvd. W., 1-855-985-5000, ticketmaster.ca

ART Toronto Animation Arts Festival Over 100 shorts and five feature-length animated films are screening, trade experts are leading discussions on the state of the industry and workshops and master classes on the art of animation are offered for everyone from beginners to seasoned vets. July 26-28. $15 per workshop/screening, $149 for a weekend pass. TIFF Bell Lightbox & Corus Quay, 647-785-8740, taafi.com

DANCE Toronto Burlesque Festival The display of extravagant song and dance will make you wish the Roaring Twenties was back. In addition to the shows, there’s a series of burlesque workshops for aspiring performers. July 26-28. $35-$45. Various locations, torontoburlesquefestival.com

CYCLING Critical Mass Bike Ride On the last Friday of every month, hordes of cyclists gather at the corner of Bloor and Spadina at 6 p.m. for a mass bike ride through the downtown core. For some, it’s a kind of political expression; for others, simply a joy ride. July 26. Free. Bloor St. W. & Spadina Ave., facebook.com
