What Twitter had to say about Justin Trudeau being denied a high five by Prince George
Prince George arrived in Victoria, B.C., with his royal parents on Saturday, whereupon he promptly denied Justin Trudeau a high-five. Which, of course he did. No three-year-old wants anything to do with any adult who isn’t their mom or dad. But the internet doesn’t care about child psychology; it cares about memes. And so it was a matter of minutes before the aborted high-five became fodder for the international press. Here’s what Twitter had to say.
Some attributed the snub to cultural differences:

Others predicted dire consequences for Canadian/British relations:

A few grappled with the etiquette issues at play:
reading this thread about how it would be "unseemly" for "the prince" to have high fived trudeau in the first place
— vicki ménage (@gethporno) September 26, 2016
Still others admired the young prince’s restraint:
Prince George met Obama in a bathrobe and denied Trudeau a couple of high fives. That kid has the kind of chill we should all aspire to.

Media watchers ascribed grave importance to the event:
Here's a reckless prediction: this Prince George thing has just put Trudeau's winning streak of positive memes to an end. Honeymoon over.

Justin Trudeau (or, at any rate, his parody Twitter account), turned to the internet for counsel:
who does prince george think he is
— Trudeau Googles (@TrudeauGoogles) September 26, 2016
A few mocked the young monarch:
"Oh, a high five. How charming. And how good for you. I shan't be partaking, but good day." https://t.co/MijqCD98GO
— Tristin Hopper (@TristinHopper) September 26, 2016
And there were those who longed for their own moment of hand-to-hand contact with the world’s dreamiest head of government:
Days later and I’m still horrified that Prince George refused to high-five Justin Trudeau. I would refuse that man nothing.
