Street Style: Queen West’s shopkeepers show edgy layers and how to pull off a toque

Queen West grows more upscale every year, but the neighbourhood denizens have maintained a decidedly downtown sense of style: edgy, heavy on black and often deliberately scruffy. We visited the shop girls and boys at the area’s boutiques on a Monday afternoon and found plenty to like (even though many save their best duds for the weekend when stores are busier). Our favourites: a freestyle asymmetrical haircut,  covetable ombré jeans, and a purple blazer with a patterned shirt and pocket square.
