Swiss menswear manufacturer Strellson built its first North American store on the northwest corner of Avenue and Bloor, on the fringe of the strip boasting heavyweights Hermes, Louis Vuitton and Holt Renfrew. The location is probably appropriate, given that the brand positions itself just short of high-end luxury—think Zara on a really good day, or Hugo Boss taking it easy.
One section of the 1,700-square-foot store contains the brand’s sportswear line: winter-appropriate basics like a yellow puffer jacket ($348) and chocolate brown leather chukkas ($298). A second, larger area focuses on Strellson’s strength: two- and three-piece suits ($548-$798) in conservative shades and muted patterns that can be punched up with bright V-neck sweaters, scarves ($88–$175) and ties (all $98). The brand has built its popularity by offering slim, modern suits for under four figures—something that can be remarkably difficult to find.
