Greta Constantine throws a raucous Parkdale dinner party to preview the fall 2013 collection

Greta Constantine fall 2013

Greta Constantine designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong once again opted out of  fashion week for Fall 2013, instead feting their collection with a dinner party at Parkdale restaurant Parts and Labour last night. Likely the furthest west many of the socialite attendees had ever traveled, we heard a photographer yell “say Parkdale!” to some ballgown-clad ladies, and Krystal Koo ask, “Where are we?” while posing outside. Others who made the trek included actress Sarah Gadon, Top Chef Canada host Lisa Ray and social mavens Catherine Nugent, Stacey Jordan (formerly Kimel) and Suzanne Rogers (spotted sneaking a cigarette before the main course was served).

Like last season, the collection focused on pleated details and close-fitting dresses, including some with sweetheart necklines that reminded us of a modern-day Dynasty—in a good way. The duo also loosened up their palette with royal blue, acid green, red and pink dresses that we bet will show up at charity galas next winter. Our favourite: a bubblegum-pink gown with soft pleats, paired with a belted fur. After the models walked the bar in next season’s party frocks, the party ramped up. The Globe and Mail’s Tiyana Grulovic and eLuxe’s Susie Sheffman toasted their matching Alexander Wang shoes, while Pickersgill handed out bottles of Stoli, earning him the nickname of “fairy vodka-mother.”
