For the first red carpet of TIFF 2012, the world premiere of Looper at Roy Thomson Hall was fairly subdued. The fans were well behaved—as were the stars, including the now-ubiquitous thinking woman’s heartthrob, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Mr. Planet Hollywood himself, Bruce Willis. Gordon-Levitt’s dapper pinstripe getup matched the tone of the time-travel thriller, which neatly marries its sci-fi premise with pulpy film noir style. Director Rian Johnson (who reportedly had 20 family members in town for the premiere) and co-stars Piper Perabo, Noah Segan and Emily Blunt also took their turn waltzing down the red carpet. Blunt’s skin-tight burgundy dress won our approval, as did her plus-one and irrepressibly happy husband, The Office star John Krasinski, who grinned at his wife and everyone else in his immediate vicinity. Krasinski even headed into the crowd to sign autographs. Sure, there’s a chance he was signing photos of Gordon-Levitt, but still, what a nice guy.
