Some Canadians rejoiced when it was reported that Juicy Couture would be closing all of its North American stores, shutting the door on a bygone era when head-to-toe velour was something of a status symbol. The last Ontario storefront, an outlet in Vaughan, was scheduled to close on June 30, taking with it all remaining memories of the brand’s signature pantsuit and tacky lettering.

Or not.

According to a press release circulated yesterday, former Juicy locations in Canada and the U.S. won’t be upgraded to candy-hued Kate Spade boutiques after all. Instead, Juicy will reopen the stores under its new parent company, Authentic Brands Group. The new Juicy shops, expected to start opening in 2015, will feel a bit like department stores and will carry the brand’s premium Black Label Collection, including lingerie and girls’ clothing. Shoppers can also look forward to a new collaboration with Steve Madden—one we can only imagine will be full of flashy stilettos and embellished sandals.
