The Joe Fresh empire is spreading like wildfire in North America
Mr. Joe Fresh, Joe Mimran, has been busy this summer with more than just keeping up his George Hamilton–worthy tan. First, there was the launch of his first U.S. store, a pop-up shop in East Hampton, which is offering free pedicab rides to various beaches and free ice cream in an attempt to lure customers in to buy its summer collection. Not one to rest on his laurels, Mimran has been planning store openings like crazy. Beyond the plans for four new stores in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut this fall, three more are slated to open in Toronto: at the Golden Mile Shopping Centre, at Queen and Portland and at Carlton and Church (in the revamped Maple Leaf Gardens). And through all this expansion, Mimran had time to give an interview to Racked on “conquering N.Y.C.” (despite Joe Fresh not being open there yet).
In news that will surprise no one, Mimran is an Upper East Side kind of guy (we don’t exactly see him fraternizing with hipster parents around Williamsburg), and after singing Canada’s praises, saying “Canadians are a diverse bunch with heritages and traditions originating from all over the world,” he gets in a mild dig at Toronto, claiming that New York “has incredible verve and people are out on the streets more. You see much more fashion walking around N.Y.C. than in Toronto.” It’s kind of strange to see Americans getting so excited about a grocery store clothing brand, but hey, they never had to buy their underwear with their hormone-free, grass-fed lamb.

Joe’s of north-African descent; that was a dumb comment about the tan.
you can give away all the ice cream and pedicab rides you want, but the bottom line is that the line makes the Gap look like couture. Mom jeans and stripes t’s?–look out NY, Grocery store chic is coming your way!
I honestly don’t get what the fuss is about with Joe Fresh. I checked it out, bought a couple things, they promptly wore like the cheap rags they are and have since found their proper home at value village. Mike is right Fresh clothes make the Gap look well made. There are so many fantastic, and much more stylish, inexpensive European and Japanese brands in NYC that I cannot even fathom the hard to impress New Yorkers going gaga for this total crap…..they’ll find out soon enough I guess.
I’m actually a big fan of Joe Fresh but can not see them succeeding outside of their hometown. NYC will have no association or affection towards the brand or where it came from. What’s wrong with being a local success? I love giving my friends in LA and NYC gifts from Joe…a little touch of home.
I agree with the first three. Bought a few items there on the rare occasion the style vs. price was a good balance and they turned out to be pretty bad quality. But one big exception, the kids stuff. For some reason, it’s great (relatively speaking) compared to the adult wear.
I actually have to TOTALLY DISAGREE with all of you!!!!
I shop at so many places like H&M, Mexx, and more places (P.S. : GAP is crap just saying….)
anyways, Joe Fresh is actually SO good! Maybe the quality isn’t as good as some top boutiques, but when you compare them to Wal-mart/Target and all those other crap clothes stores, Joe Fresh comes out to top!!!!
You should watch Joe Fresh Fall/Winter 2011 Runway collection at LG Fashion Week in toronto…Pure genius!
I buy so many things there and everything lasts for so long so I don’t see how your lasts for like a minute….
Also, Joe Fresh has NEW coupons every week to save you some money, even through they have so much business already!!!
And of course, all their prices are insanely reasonable!!!
I LOVE THEM <3 I wish I could meet Joe Miriam…such a great designer!
So before any of you Bi*ches say Joe Fresh is crap, look at your face. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHA
I do have to agree with you…..
Joe Fresh is sooooo good! :)
Their quality isn’t as good as Zara and some other stores but really, for the prices, I really love them :)
So please guys, don’t bad mouth Joe Fresh.
I <3 Joe fresh!!!
Such amazing clothes!!
