Suzanne Rogers, celebrity look-alike: the photographic evidence
On a scale of fashion-related risk taking, Torontonians often fall somewhere between “buttoned-up” and “the Amish,” which is why we adore telecom trophy wife Suzanne Rogers, who stands out like a bejewelled pageant queen at a minimalist Calvin Klein show.
True, some outfits are more successful than others, but we love a gal who isn’t afraid to make a Hollywood-style splash. We’ve gathered some of S-Ro’s most Us Weekly–inspired fashion statements. Take a look at them after the jump.
When we spotted Rogers at the OneXOne gala during this year’s film fest, we knew her over-the-top ensemble looked familiar. The frothy frock is the work of Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, who obviously sought inspiration from a certain Thelma and Louise star. Of course, Geena Davis wore her dress in the fashion-challenged early ’90s (the era that brought us Blossom hats and bicycle shorts), but what’s Rogers’ excuse?
Rogers tips her hat (or should we say collar?) to another Hollywood icon in an outfit that made us wonder: If she’s here, then who’s living in Barbie’s dream house? Gwyneth Paltrow’s shorter version is only better in that it is shorter—because when you’re wearing Pepto Bismol pink, less really is more.
Remember when Madonna released her children’s book and briefly dressed like Margaret Thatcher at a garden party? Rogers channels the material girl’s—make that the material matron’s—conservative floral frock attending a party at Holt Renfrew. Madge’s dress looks like it’s cutting off circulation to her brain. Advantage: Rogers.
The year’s hottest style ticket was a Rogers-hosted fashion show in honour of the great Oscar de la Renta. Rogers wore a number by the guest of honour and looked a lot like Cameron Diaz, who wore flaxen de la Renta to this year’s Oscars. So, does this mean we can soon expect to see S-Ro riding a surfboard in Hawaii and getting into the wacky tabacci with Drew Barrymore? We wish.
Rogers attends the grand reopening of The Bay’s buzzy St. Regis Room sporting two of last year’s most ubiquitous trends: leather and volume. Kim Kardashian dons a similarly Betty Boop–inspired ensemble at an L.A. party for Pepsi Max.

With so much money at her disposal, why not hire a new hair stylist? The Dolly-look is out in Toronto. Although, it may work in the Southern States. She is a very petite woman, why attract attention with big flowers, patterns, ruffles and vast amounts of tulle on a small frame? All wrong Ms. Rogers!
I agree, her outfits are great. It’s that signature hair style that’s got to go!
Tsk…Tsk…Tsk…Shame on you both…Suzanne Rogers ALWAYS looks good from “HEAD” to TOE…She has a great sense of style and class…The only thing that needs change is the attitude on these two above critics.Especially you Fashion Police50…you sound more like cinderella’s step sister! Do you not have anything better to do than to make nasty comments about our LOVELY Suzanne Rogers???…get over it…She is beautiful inside and out!!!
Yay Monica,you nailed it!!
The recurring theme of trashing Suzanne Rogers is getting old. When did Toronto Life become a tabloid? Rather then the blatant jealousy being printed don’t people praise, celebrate and focus on all the generosity of her time and resources she puts towards so many worthy charities. She is an icon in not only this city but this country and more people should aspire to doing even one tenth of the good she does for others. This woman shows up for life, treats people with kindness and integrity and if you have nothing nice to say, shut it!!
At least you TL Turkeys have someone glamorous to diss… thanks to SR for being on our scene and carrying herself with such class. She helps put Toronto on the international map, combining fashion and charity in a gracious, world-worthy way. Is it jealousy that causes you to be so mean-spirited??
she is hideous in everything . please stop i cannot eat my dinner ahhhhhhhh
“international map”? lmao. give me a break. suzanne rogers and her tacky style are not putting us on any international map.
no one is saying she isn’t nice or generous (with her husband’s money) – but come on – can’t she be nice and generous wearing something a little more current/fashionable/suitable?
The bouffy hair, the frosted lips, the stunned look in her eyes…she’s laughable on all levels.
In a city where black is the uniform color at any given gala and where women’s choice of footwear are UGGs come every November, it really is refreshing to have a woman with such individual style in our city. She is a woman who obviously has the enviably confidence to walk into a room all in pink, while others fade away beside her. Her style is her own and it suits her, she is girly, fresh and feminine. She obviously gets people talking about fashion outside the box and there is nothing wrong with that; it’s great we have someone so fearless in what she wears and who loves fashion. Keep wearing pink Suzanne and I’m sure you will be wearing stiletto boots come November!
I don’t feel like I live in a sea of black and Uggs at all — i find inspiration around me every day, and i’m by no means a boring or conventional dresser. I don’t know why people have to bash Torontonian style all the time. I think SR has interesting style but her look is always dated, even if she wears the most avant garde ensemble, because of the hair and makeup. Which is fine, it’s her choice. But I wouldn’t necessarily say she puts Toronto on the international map…bit of an overstatement!
Why does she always look stunned like that?
I think it’s great we have such a fashionista in the city. She always looks amazing at events and people always talk about her clothes! She is put together and chic. Toronto is such a boring city when it comes to fashion…this is a woman who alone brought Oscar de la Renta to the city (she must be doing something right)!! That is HUGE and International!! I can’t think of anyone else in the city who could have pulled that one off. Good for her and good for the fashion scene in Toronto. It would be great to have more talked about fashionable women in the city then just the very few we have. I don’t understand some of these nasty comments; they are so envious. BTW…I love your hair Suzanne – it’s far more Bardot then Dolly!!! but it figures nobody who wrote those comments would really know who she is….
Rogers is definitely on the international fashion scene; she is a woman photographed sitting front row at Oscar ((New York) and Chanel (Paris) that’s pretty international! She really has great style and hair!!! Figures Torontonians just don’t get it; but somehow I highly doupt Rogers really cares too much about what others have to say when she is having lunch with Karl or Oscar…
I hope I look as good as she does when I’m in my 70’s.
DEER IN THE HEAD LIGHTS!!!
Todd Olive said it best. Her style is interesting, in the sense that she takes risks and obviously enjoys dressing up. There is nothing wrong with that, especially when you have money to have fun with. But she does look dated. Very much so. The hair and makeup really is all wrong. It looks more southern USA than, say, Paris…note how effortlessly chic Ines de la Fressange looks next to her in that simple ensemble of chic cream pants and black jacket…
And Janet Colburn…we do know who Bardot is. Bardot, despite her big sexy signature hair, always dressed in a very understated French style. If you’re going big with clothes your hair and make-up should be much simpler.
I don’t think critisizing someone’s style (what these comment pages are made for after all), implies any kind of jealousy.
I know nothing of Suzanne’s character – so I will not comment on that ( of course it would only be speculation and that never does anyone any good). I only comment that she has a sort of Truly Scrumptious look about her.
When I look at these photographs all I see is a very attractive woman, dressed well, beautiful blonde hair, and about 36ish (Kimberly – you probably look about 70 yourself and you must be truly blind)…is it because the photos are of ‘Suzanne Rogers’? that people make nasty comments and are desperatly looking for anything negative to comment on?? I guess it’s easy to take a swipe at a prominent woman, who would be envied by many; when you can hide behind fakes names. Stunned look – she doesn’t look stunned? Dated makeup??? Her makeup looks no different then anyone elses?? If she were some unknown, I highly doupt people would take the time to bother to observe her hairstyle (and btw – why do any of you actually care???); which is pretty lame and petty…Shame on you Toronto Life for using this woman to get your numbers up; next time try someone who no one knows and lets see your responses then; pretty sure no one would bother…
she has amazing clothes…it just doesn’t look chic on her but then if you are teasing your bangs and frosting your hair like that, you probably are not going for chic…its definitely obvious if you look at the photo of Ines and her. Ines is the definition of Parisian chic.
also, if she is front row at chanel, its because she is probably a top client (billionaires and all) rather than for her amazing styling. and I don’t think she is putting toronto on the map because I don’t think tommy ton could be convinced she is the next anna della russo…that said, anyone who is willing to put herself out there fashion-wise in toronto should be celebrated.
I think her style is pretty F%$#@! awesome, nice to see someone in our hum drum country take some chances with style. Suzanne if you ever take the time to read some of this garbage know this…. you rock!!!!
She looks really great in person, her clothes are amazing and look great on her, She for sure has style. These photos that Toronto Life posted don’t do this woman any justice (it seems they chose the same hair look for every photo for a reason). She is always talked about at events for what she wears and I’ve never heard anyone comment on her hairstyle?? Usually her hair is up in a huge bun whenever I’ve seen her; so these photos must be old??. She really is kind of like Anna Dello Russo in Canada..I think it’s super!
I am not sure why I bother in reading TO Life again.
Thank you but no thank you for such a trashy below trash article from someone who probably thinks that Jeans and T’s are high fashion, oh and forgot the croxs….
Shame on you for taking the time to comment on a high fashion figure in our city, who, BTW, in her spare time, she builds hope and kindness in a charitable way, a lot more then what others do.
Your are wrong to target such a beautiful and stylish woman. Every person has a style, and every person uses it accordingly right or wrong. Her choice of designers always has been impeccable, with tatse and class. TO Life, all of your choices of pictures of S.R. Vs. other Hollywood celebrities are WAY OFF and a total lack of judgment.
Editor of T.O. Life, shame on you to approve of such high school type of cattiness, shame.
Like I said, we each carry a style of our own, and thank god for that. If she likes what she wears then good for her, I applaud you Ms. Suzanne Rogers.
shame on you david connacher – simple good fortune that the story is no longer evergreen.
I’m probably the closest guy you’ll find who looks like hugh laurie from house!
Clothes are nothing without personality. Unfortunately this poor person has clearly had too much botox injected into her face to be able to have a facial expression anymore. Yuk.
I think she looks lovely. We are so use to seeing ladies wear any old thing for everyday outings that when we see a real lady dressed elegantly we are not sure what to say. As for her hair its what works for her. I really like that Suzanne is trying to bring fashion back. We can all take a lesson from her.
I love Suzanne!!! Such a sweet woman and a huge supporter of Canadian design talent!
