The best looks from the 2016 CAFAs
The Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards, a celebration of the best in north-of-the-border style, took place on Friday at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel. This year, the party attracted some especially big names, including Karlie Kloss, Elle Macpherson, Kim Catrall and Sophie Grégoire Trudeau. In addition to accepting prizes (Jason Wu, Greta Constantine and The Coveteur all took some home) attendees also showed off stunningly elaborate outfits from local talent. Here, a few of our favourite looks.
Surprisingly, the model’s custom evening gown was by cheap-and-chic retailer Joe Fresh.
The Sex and the City legend wore a menswear-inspired Pink Tartan pantsuit with Ron White shoes.
Coco Rocha and Winnie Harlow
This supermodel power-duo rocked the red carpet: Harlow wore a floral Mikhael Kale gown and Rocha sported a creation from her new line, Co and Co.
Sophie Grégoire Trudeau
The country’s favourite fashion darling wore a backless jumpsuit from Montreal-bred designer Mikael D.
In typical grand fashion, the socialite sported a pearl-encrusted gown from Toronto designer Mikhael Kale (apparently it took 240 hours to hand-sew).
Jenna Bitove Naumovich
This tulle-crazy creation is from Toronto designer Stephan Caras.
Britt Barkwell, Tanya Taylor, Mosha Lundström Halbert, Jessi Cruikshank
Toronto-bred designer Taylor outfitted a supremely stylish posse.
The recipient of the Hudson’s Bay Vanguard award (which goes to an “international trailblazer who’s had a profound effect on the industry”) wore a glittery strapless number by Romona Keveza.
Caitlin Cronenberg, Wayne Clark, Sarah Gadon
Pals Cronenberg and Gadon both sported glam dresses from Canadian eveningwear designer Wayne Clark (he was recognized for outstanding achievement).
