CEO of Hudson’s Bay Co., Jeffrey Sherman, steps down
The Financial Post is reporting that HBC CEO Jeffrey Sherman is leaving the company; he was brought out of retirement to operate The Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters in 2008. Sherman, who was responsible for luring luxury retail whiz Bonnie Brooks to The Bay, will return to retirement, saying his “personal mission is now complete.” There are no plans to replace him, which has led to speculation that the major changes at The Bay—staff layoffs, expense cuts, the opening of The Room, cutting underperforming brands—are now complete.

I just went to the Bay to look for dresses. I was shocked – not only did the salespeople say hello to me (unprompted), but even started a room for me. I also overheard some excellent customer service from elsewhere in the changeroom. Not sure what they’ve done but so far, it seems to be working.
Good timing….I mean, how could he ever top those RED MITTENS!
I couldn’t agree more with the transformation of The Bay – it is the one-stop fashion destination in Toronto now. I think it will take some time for these changes to become apparent to shoppers but what Bonnie Brooks and co. have accomplished there is nothing short of amazing.
If you have an HBC charge card you have 90 days to change your mind – no one around can match that policy either!
I’m still waiting for the washrooms to to be brought into the 21st century. They’ve been ignored at Queen St. since the signs said Simpsons. For SHAME!
