Romona Keveza closed yesterday’s fashion shows with her evening and bridal collections, launched by the original trailer from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Known for her red carpet gowns, Keveza doesn’t shy away from poufy, frilly extravagance. The dresses were set in three stages: bridesmaid-appropriate cocktail frocks first (like brocade minis with pleated bustiers), followed by formal dresses and the bridal gowns. Bridal shows tend to have a prom-dress-shopping-at-Fairweather vibe to them, and while Keveza’s bride is of the princess variety, the enormous layers of tulle and crinoline had even the most composed ladies around us cooing about marriage. True to Holly Golightly’s love of the LBD, the designer’s strongest pieces were black—in lace or with elaborate pleating—and an ornately beaded gown with a monstrous skirt for a to-hell-with-tradition wedding.
