What’s new in Toronto shopping this week

The city’s best new stores and coolest pop-ups

Nordstrom Rack is coming to Yorkville
The American department store’s affordable offshoot will open a 10,000-square-foot store on the first and second floors of soon-to-be condo tower One Bloor (the former Stollerys building). The store’s first Canadian location will be stocked with brands like Free People and Tory Burch—all at a relative steal. Doors are set to open in 2018 (meanwhile, Nordstrom will open two locations in Yorkdale and the Eaton Centre this fall). Nordstromrack.com.

Adidas’s totally tubular pop-up
While Toronto shoppers can snag Adidas kicks at most shoe stores, the brand’s new pop-up above Exclusity on Queen West is for extra-devoted fans. The shop currently stocks all sorts of variations on the Tubular style, a casual-yet-futuristic shoe that looks a bit like the Yeezy Boost. Come March, the store will switch things up, hosting a rotating selection of shoe styles for the next few months or longer. 552 Queen St. W. (second floor), adidas.com.

Saks is Open
It’s finally here: 169,000 square feet of light-filled luxury in the Eaton Centre. The new department store has in-store boutiques (Celine, Givenchy, Saint Laurent), 35,000 pairs of shoes and lots of hard-to-find labels (Piaget, for instance). Serial shoppers can indulge in a wealth of swanky services including a private lounge, VIP shopping suites, treatment rooms and a lucrative points card. Pusateri’s Fine Food Hall on the store’s lower level will open later this spring. 176 Yonge St., 416-507-3100, saksfifthavenue.com.

A Christian Louboutin flagship is coming to Yorkville
Loubs for everyone! (Anyone with thousands of dollars to drop on shoes, that is.) The label’s opening its first Toronto flagship in the old La Presse plot on Yorkville Avenue this spring, bringing the iconic red-soled heels downtown (currently, Yorkdale’s Holt Renfrew is the only other place to find them). The new shop will have over 2,000-square-feet of space dedicated to the sky-high pumps, studded stilettos, handbags and accessories. Christianlouboutin.com.

W Studio Decorative Carpets’s new digs
The bespoke carpet maker has moved into a new studio and showroom in the Castlefield design district. Handspun by artisans in Tibet and Nepal from sustainable silk and wool, its carpets are statement pieces of floor art. The enormous, stark white–walled space is perfect for showing off intricate colour patterns and swirly textures. 1330 Castlefield Ave., 416-929-9290, wstudio.ca.

A huge vintage fest
The biannual Toronto Vintage Clothing Show is back for its spring edition. This March, the Ex will be filled with retro finds, including racks on racks of glittery gowns, beautiful baubles and vintage carpets. Also up for grabs this season will be excess inventory from Cambridge’s Fashion History Museum (which has over 10,000 pieces from as far back as 1660) and a bunch of 1980s apparel from Ian Drummond’s film collection. Tickets are $10 cash at the door (and we’d bring extra, as most vendors don’t accept credit cards). March 5—6. Queen Elizabeth Building, 180 Princes’ Blvd., torontovintageclothingstore.ca.
