The property: A freehold townhouse with lots of recent sprucing up, including a fresh paint job, a new roof and new windows.
The history: The sellers, who bought the place in 2012, piled on renovations and upgrades throughout 2014 and 2015 (hardwood floors upstairs, a new skylight and stainless steel appliances, to name but a few). Now, they have a toddler and have bought a new property elsewhere in the city. They were keen to sell quickly.
The sale: The house was originally listed for a week and a half at the end of May for $1.028 million. When offers didn’t roll in, the sellers decided to get more aggressive. They took the property off the market, but, just as they did so, someone contacted the listing agent wondering where the house had gone. The agent told the buyer it would be relisted the next morning at $899,000. Not wanting to take any chances, the buyer made a bully offer that same evening, for just shy of the original list price.
