One of the nicest church conversion condos in the city is back on the market, as Brian Porter, president and CEO of Scotiabank, looks to sell his stylish Rosedale residence.

The three-storey unit is one of just five condos carved out of a former church near the intersection of Yonge Street and Macpherson Avenue. The townhouse has about 4,250 square feet of living space, heated marble floors and a central spiral staircase. The third-floor exercise room and sauna make it an excellent home for an executive who’s too busy to hit the gym, and unusual architectural features—like a huge, round skylight in the upstairs family room—emphasize the property’s uniqueness. The maintenance fees are $2,180 a month.

Despite everything it has going for it, this townhouse sat on the market for several years before Porter and his wife Megan finally closed on the place in January 2016, for $3,586,000—about $200,000 less than the property’s last known asking price. Through his real estate agent, Porter declined comment, so it’s not clear why he’s selling so quickly. The asking price this time around is $3.95 million, which might be a little on the high side—unless there’s another high-ranking executive looking to move into the neighbourhood.

The unit was our House of the Week in December 2012. Head to that post for more views of the interior, as it appeared back then.
