Condomonium: $2.6 million for a penthouse loft (with a sauna!) in Liberty Village
ADDRESS: 43 Hanna Avenue, Unit 711
NEIGHBOURHOOD: South Parkdale
AGENTS: Claude and Pierre Boiron, Coldwell Banker Terrequity Realty
PRICE: $2,575,000
THE PLACE: A spacious 3-bedroom penthouse in the Toy Factory Lofts, a century-old factory-turned-condo and one of Liberty Village’s most recognizable buildings.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: Most upscale suites boast walk-in closets, but this loft has a bona fide dressing room. Two vanities will diminish traffic jams around the mirror, and suede tiles covering the entrance walls add a bit of drama. It’s even rigged up with a 22-inch plasma TV in case you need some distraction while helping your partner decide which shoes to wear.
BIG SELLING POINT: Opulence. While we love the rough-hewn detailing of more industrial-style lofts, there’s something to be said for marble bathrooms, beds on pedestals and a sauna in the master bathroom.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: Liberty Village is uber-popular, but there are also plenty of haters out there who say it’s not family friendly and is cut-off from the city.
BY THE NUMBERS:
• $2,575,000

• 14-foot high ceilings
• 5 plasma televisions
• 4 bathrooms
• 4-person sauna
• 3 bedrooms
• 3 Juliet balconies
• 1 wraparound balcony

The so called view into the plaza is actually a north east view and to see the lake in the other slide you have to crane your neck out to get a glimpse. The balcony faces North-East,tell it like it is.
Not a bad looking suite.
Um. Looks like a view of a grocery store parking lot to me. Insane price.
Not sure if the price is warranted for the location even if it is in the Liberty Village. It’s still not a skip and a hop to the main entertainment and restaurant district in the downtown core. Unless, of course you insist that the entertainment and restos in LV are comparable. I think not.
nice place… not sure about having a 50″ tv and the views are not very appetizing considering the price. At that price everything has to be perfect and unfortunately its not.
There are definitely some pros and cons attached to the Toy Factory lofts. Seeing a space like this along with some nearby like 477 Richmond St W, Camden Lofts or Candy Factory is the only way to truly know if the value>cost. TL readers are always in high attendance on these weekly sneak peeks at Toronto most amazing lofts, modern homes etc.
Family friendly or not is a matter of perception and expectations. If you’re truly a ‘pure’ downtown Toronto dweller there’s no way you would even question raising a child for example at the corner of Queen and Spadina. Unfortunately, it’s those suburbanites raised in houses who have moved into the city, regardless of how long ago, are the ones who have the perception and expectation problems.
I’ve been in it and you can see where the money has been spent. Nothing like it around. Perfect for the swinging bachelor or power couple. Good luck Claude :)
One more thought…I think one of the major pros of the Toy Factory is the ultra-low maintenance fees. They have a great condo board. I definitely think the pros outweigh the cons. LV is a fantastic area to live and will continue to grow and attract more businesses/residents. Six minute cab or 20 minute walk to King/Spadina and streetcar line to the Financial District. The location is excellent.
It’s definitely beautiful, but does anyone need so much?? Also… a true “cook” doesn’t have an open kitchen.
Yes but the feeling of walking around naked in this unit. MEOW!
That balcony and view are just terrible.
yea cause the whole place would stink up too
