Condomonium: $750,000 for a penthouse in the first condo tower built in the Distillery District
ADDRESS: 33 Mill Street, Unit 3203
NEIGHBOURHOOD: Waterfront Communities—The Island
AGENTS: Cameron Weir and Scott Hanton, Keller Williams Advantage Realty
PRICE: $749,000
THE PLACE: A two-bedroom penthouse on the 32nd floor of Pure Spirit Lofts and Condos. Completed in 2009, Pure Spirit was the first condo tower built in the Distillery District.
BRAGGING RIGHTS: Though historic structures tend to hog all the adulation in the city, the Toronto Star’ s architecture authority Christopher Hume went gaga over this building—he called it “elegant” and listed it as one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.
BIG SELLING POINT: For a condo in the city, the vibe is decidedly serene. The blue-green tiles in the kitchen and bathroom match the wide-open view of water and sky—and the perspective from the 32nd floor would inspire anyone to become a card-carrying member of the Cloud Appreciation Society.
POSSIBLE DEAL BREAKER: Not everyone would agree that the Distillery District is a true neighbourhood. Although more condos are coming and there’s no shortage of cool happenings in nearby Victorian buildings, the historic zone may be a better place to visit than live.

I like!!! Spectacular views!
This building is horrible all sorts of issues really badly built, the swimming pool cracked and flooded some lower level places (admittedly not a problem for the penthouse)
If the building is poorly constructed, it is a problem for everyone who lives there. In fact, everyone pays his proportionate share for maintenance so it may be an even bigger problem from a financial perspective for the penthouse resident if that is a large suite.
Insanity, this place is tiny! I would rather get a house for 750,000. and spend the maintenance fee on upkeep and a membership to a good gym.
Not really a great deal at over $700 a sqft, plus if the building has issues the condo fees are going to go up. The unit itself is pretty bland, the kitchen is actually quite small (not much cabinet space) and there’s nothing really special about it outside of the view. Personally I don’t want just glass separating the master ensuite from the bedroom; if one person is up earlier than the other it’s unlikely the one still trying to sleep is going to have much luck with the lights on and shower running and the rest of it.
great views, but that’s about it……
Wow – could these pictures be any more shopped. Give me a break, I don’t care how good of a photographer you are, these pics are super excessive. Looks like a brochure for the model suites. Kitchen is tiny and brutal. Ensuite bathroom – that vanity looks like it’s right out of a gas station washroom…WTF?!?
Same photos as the MLS Listing. nice.
While you were complaining about the photos being retouched, did you notice there are no blinds in the entire unit. A penthouse owner who can’t afford blinds and the unit faces southeast, must be great trying to sleep in.
