Where did this guy eat? On the piano?
Wow, what a beautiful apartment! The owner has impeccable
taste. If ever I move from England to Canada this is the sort of place I would love to own.
Beautiful, stunning place…awesome location in The Beach!
And Mike piano bars are the new rage, I guess you missed the picture of the counter island with 4 stools!
Those windows are incredible! What a georgeous home. The owner clearly has great style and taste.
$800k to listen to the 501 streetcar rattle by 24 hrs a day?
Very nice indeed and tastefully decorated. minimalistic dcor rules! MB, have you heard of soundproof ?! I live on Queens Quay…do i ever hear the streetcar – NO! Betcha ya live somewhere in Suburbia and dream of living downtown?!
Hedonistic heaven – great location – wonderful view – fantasy bathroom – gourmet kitchen with wine storage – all within easy reach of downtown yet nestled in the warmth of the Beach neighbourhood!
Wow – what an incredible apartment. It must be the only one in the Beach with those amazing views over Kew Gardens and the lake. Stunning! If we were in the market for a new place in the Beach, we would jump at it. It won’t last long at that price – there can’t be anything like it for sale. It certainly is a tasteful, thoughtfully laid out place. Obviously the owner is not just musical, but also a decor diva!
I don’t understand where the comments are coming from? What decor is everyone raving about – IKEA? The owner should have spent some money better staging this place prior to placing it on Toronto Life.
I’m confused right there with ya CB, a little suspicious no? I love the beaches but for $800k surely you could get a nice wee house in the area – garden with a deck, space to relax, a dining table, etc. That living room is a nightmare.
Lets address some facts CB and uh ‘Foghorn. Of course you could buy a house but this is condo/loft living. The ‘Bellefair’ condo is going up next door to this loft in a couple of years and start at 900K+ to 1.5 mill and they have all sold out. I am a designer and the furniture is Pottery Barn & Structube & West Elm. Get some imagination- the top floor can be a family room with deck & make a terrific one bed. What’s the hang up with the dining area–I doubt you have a grand piano so stick it there….or eat at the 8ft quartz counter.. or hell-eat out…wow you guys are sad and negative–so don’t buy it… easy!
Aslo CB-meant to add-Toronto Life picks the condo/house/cottage of the week-and asks the owner if they would mind…and they use the pics already taken for the MLS…. this is not like having a home staged for a Home & Garden spread-totally different and reminder you are the buying the condo and location not the furniture or staging :)
fyi a nice wee house that does not need renos with style in a great location will set you back around $895 starting price—check the homes on Bellefair-the adjacent street-you’ll see. Do you homework before you post…really it’s ambarrasing.
It does seem very suspicious Foghorn. The comments are likely from the real estate agent of home owner. My post was in response to the exaggerated comments on how great the decor and place looked. This place lacks character structurally and the decor looks extremely amature. Not very functional and has very little indoor space for entertaining.
Guys, what is the hang up on space, the top floor ia an entertaining meccaa with deck and stunning views. The owner is clearly using as a 2nd bedroom-but noe could use as they wish. I agree with Richard here…you are buying location-a loft in the beach in a boutque style building. If you prefer a sprawling house in suburbia there are plenty. This place is about lifestyle. We are clear-it is not for you :)
I’m not sure what everyone is taking issue with here – the space, or the décor? As someone who is currently looking at condos (for my parents), I think this one is gorgeous. And it’s in a very desirable neighbourhood. Compared to the penthouse condos at Broadview and Pottery Road, which are on the market for between 1.1-1.25 million, this is a great deal. And if my math is correct, it’s 1300+ sf of living space, plus the outdoor space. This looks like it’s right in the heart of the Beach – great restaurants, shops, close proximity to downtown, beach/boardwalk access, etc. Like a previous poster said, condo living is about lifestyle. I personally own a house, but I can definitely appreciate the plus-side of condos – especially in the winter. :)
The listing should call out a home gym. With all the stairs you would have to walk everyday you would have the sweetest buns in the beaches!
sophistication of this condo is perfect for the newly inducted ‘Beaches’ buyer. Who needs a gym, when you have stairs, a park, endless & charming Queen St; seems like an ideal property with a GREAT maintenance fee for those of us who appreciate the condo lifestyle in a quality community setting.love it.
What a beautiful penthouse! Everything from the location to the decor shows that the owner knows her stuff. Damn I wish I had $800K handy.
I love condo living! Place looks ok to me. The problem for me on this one guys is that it is too fragmented. It has small square footage on each of the floors. When you tally all the floors up it seems big but living there would feel tight. I have seen these before. I am sure there a lot of people will like it though!
One word comes to mind when i see this: BORING!
My friend just purchased a house in the area for less than this wow! I would want to own a piece of land.
Not sure what the song & dance is about price -do those who have commented REALLY know their stuff in the beaches–is your friends house really reno perfect and highly desired location? One can’t really put a price on a Penthouse loft with unobstructed views…it’s easy to see the value- without renos it would be around 650k- you throw in around 100k renos-then you are right on target. There are houses in the beach-in less than a hot spot that start at high 600’s and they need a total gut or at least 150k-it does not go far. There is NOTHING in the beaches currently in a top location that is move in ready and bang up to date under $789-oh and oops just street parking for some. You can list a house at any price-the market dictates what it goes for-is this not the fun of real estate? These lofts have parking with private garage too.House/condo? they can be as pricey as each other-check out all the other Toronto Life postings….
Karen you can always put a price on property. It’s that attitude that has helped create this real estate bubble. House prices have grown by 130% in the last 10 years while income has only increase by 10%. The IMF has warned Canada twice about its debt levels as Canadians have never been more in debt. We have the highest consumer debt levels of all OECD countries right now. Wake up and smell the coffee. We will be seeing a market correction soon.
I guess James what I am saying is… that when you have Penthouse level in a condo situation with views that won’t ever be obstructed… it adds more to the cache-in this location one of only 3 penthouses. As someone said earlier the Bellefair going up next door is far more expensive so save your beef for them :)
If this property was 1.4 mill then sure lets debate it…but the price is on par at $795 with the renos done so there is nothing drastically inflated. I flip houses for a living and bought over 10 properties in as many years so I know how the market works…there is no coffee to smell-I drink it daily. So let the correction begin-am all for it- the market dictates–someone will pay what they want for it and the seller will accept what they are happy with-end of story-no one else need worry about it.
Karen, it does not seem like the coffee is working, you might night something stronger! You are out to lunch on this one!
Love the location and price, but the living/dining/kitchen area is tiny and 3 floors for that sq.footage is too fragmented.
looks as sterile as a coffin.
definitely overpriced. knock it down by $200K and maybe someone will be interested.
i live right on the streetcar line on Queen East as well…when your windows are open, you can hear loud and clear the streetcar, but if you close them…don’t worry, you just feeeeeeel the vibration of it…lol, at least I don’t have to deal the traffic of the far east when you get out of towners taking up the streets and sidewalks…lol
FYI check the property taxes on the property, a side street might be much more worth it. :)
…in terms of the bragging rights of who owns it…who cares, i would rather a nobody owned it if it knocks 100,000 off the cost.
…and to be honest, to live on the main street?…its not worth it unless you have a business, experience speaking.
The real estate agent was really pushing this earler wasn’t he/she? lol, the comments made it very obvious that they had a vested interest. Next!
I am so happy to see this Condo being featured. I always wondered how the Condo’s looked. We had our practice on the second floor of the building next door for several years. I loved the location, it saddened me when we had to move. I believe that block is the best location in all the Beach area. One could not have a better view of Kew Garden. I so enjoyed watching all the activity that took place year round. I am sure they must be able to see the lake which is not far, from their balconies.
Love the simple, clean look of the decor…skylight, large windows!!! It is very refreshing. Really wish I was in the market to move…I would take a closer look.
These comments are hilarious. At least half seem to be written by someone with a connection to the property (owner, friend/relative of owner, real estate agent?). How embarassing that they would go to those lengths to push the property on an unsuspecting audience.
Haha….i was just reading the comments myself. Especially the last one that was written by “Joan”. All of the positive comments are very staged and transparent. Its actually really funny how fake they are! Looking forward to the next comment!
My $700 bachelor apartment has better views, is in a better neighbourhood and is more charming. That place is hideous for that money. What a poor choice for a real estate agent to showcase that condo on this site. There’s no way I’d ever live on a noisey 24 hour streetcar dinging line again. What view of the lake? Oh, and please if you have the money to live in a home that cost $800,000 – and choose to make your work space that ity bity cubby under the stairs then I feel sorry for you. The good news is your planning on moving! So things are looking up for you. Hope you will enjoy your new home.
Not the agent for this one but this Bob Mitchell loft creation has been a regular on my 10LoftsInADay tours. The comments show that not all are fans of these kinds of lofts. That is the beauty of loft living. Some love em, some hate em and some dont care :)
