The Place: A 1,566-square-foot condo located just a short distance away from St. Lawrence Market, in a building with a Second Cup and several other businesses as street-level tenants. A recent renovation left the unit with better floors and a luxurious master bathroom.

Bragging Rights: This 15-year-old building offers a lot more space for the money than newer buildings, and that means ample storage. There are closets in every room (including the den), a walk-in closet in the master bedroom and a large pantry off the kitchen. There’s an extra-large locker, too.

Big Selling Point: The view encompases one of the city’s most elegant neighbourhoods. Outside the living room windows is St. Lawrence Hall, a Renaissance revival building from 1850 that’s still illuminated each night with Victorian-style gas lamps. To the right is St. James Park, which turns yellow each spring when the daffodils bloom and stays colourful until the last oak leaf falls. Beyond that is the spire of The Church of St. James Church Cathedral (circa 1853), which is fit for a queen. (Her Royal Highness attended in 2010.)

Possible Deal Breaker: The view to the left of the unit isn’t great, and it could get worse. The closest building on that side is St. Lawrence Market North, which will soon be replaced by a five-storey building with Toronto court services as its main tenant. The construction noise and eventual increased foot traffic may be a small price to pay to live in such a charming locale, though.
